“We’re really happy to announce the release of a digital deluxe version of
Half Drunk Under A Full Moon. But first let me say something about deluxe
versions in general
When it comes down to it we are music fans. Actually, we’re music addicts.
We’ve experienced that first rush you get when you discover something new,
it’s not just like falling head over heels in love, it is that!
With the odd exception (if you’re a Floyd fan then the Dark Side
& The Wall deluxe versions are incredible) as a fan I’ve found most
deluxe versions to be a bit disappointing so when the idea was floated
of us releasing a deluxe version of the new album the only way I
square it with myself was to work as hard as possible to make sure
that we were offering something that we as fans would be really
excited about owning.
For the last month in between promoting the new album we’ve been
recording new songs as well as alternate versions of songs
from Half Drunk Under A Full Moon. We’ve been asked so many times
by those of you we’ve met after shows whether we planned to record
the version of Runaround Sue that we’ve been playing live for the
last few years, well we finally did...I hope it was worth the wait!
People have also asked whether we planned to record the version of
Laughing Gas that we’ve been playing during the encore for a while
as well. A lot of those same people have expressed to us that
this song connected with them in a really visceral way. I completely
understood what they meant; it did the same for me. I hope then that
this reimagined version of the song is worthy.
In the end we’re genuinely excited by these seven tracks and feel
that we’ve kept our word, that promise we make to ourselves
every time we step onstage, sit down to write something new or head
into a recording studio. To give everything we have.
We do it for ourselves but what really drives us to make the extra effort
is you. I can’t put myself in your shoes and feel about us the way I feel
about my hero’s but I can listen. So, I listened to these new songs last
night in sequence… and then I slept soundly.
